After 18 months of telling everyone how we don’t need an inexperienced man  in the Whitehouse, John McCain has finally revealed his “cunning plan”. He’ll put an inexperienced woman there instead. Namely Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska. Seriously.. McCain is 73 and has medical records that run to thousands of pages.. If he is elected and dirt naps in office, we have someone in power who is SO unqualified that it’s scary. Someone who by her own admission when questioned recently did not have any idea what the VP actually DOES. She was elected governor in 2006 and amongst other things has been a mayor, a fisherwoman a beauty pagent contestant and a TV reporter..Now THAT’s some useful experience. Republicans will tout

this as a great leap forwards in celing smashing. I tout this as “Quick!! lets put a woman on the ticket!! A young one dammit!! One that makes our man look less “geezery!!”"  It’s also of course designed to sucker in the PUMA loons who were never really along for the ride unless it was their candidate. Reverse sexism..racism and sheer bloody mindedness prevent them from voting for Obama but they can now vote for McCain happily because he has a woman on the ticket. Bear in mind of course, that this woman is no Hillary Clinton. Not only does she not have experience (whatever that’s worth) she is “pro life” and a lifetime member of the NRA so just forget your hippy notions of gun control and watch out for moves to repeal Roe v Wade in a McCain administration.

I just watched Barack Obama deliver the closing speech at the DNC. Afterwards I went online to see what the rest of you thought. I noted that the McCain campain trotted out the same negative teardown type message that it has been spewing since the field narrowed to 3 a few months ago. “Not ready to lead…Raise Taxes…Inexperienced..”. Nothing is guaranteed to ruin optimism like an old white guy in a suit.

I am consistently depressed by the McCain campaign. Not only because he refuses to leverage his tasty potato products to make political hay but because it has nothing to offer but the rewarmed and less than palatable GWB dogma that got us to the less than stellar position in which we reside today.

Do they really not get it or do they just hope that the middle class will finally disappear in a spectacular bankruptcy /foreclosure fireworks show? At that point I suppose all the republican party would smoke a fine but illegal Cuban cigar and drink a nice glass of something expensive while telling stories of how bad they had it before they made their first million.

There are two possible futures for America: In the McCain version, business as usual. Let the market and emergency rooms take care of the poor when they get sick. Give tax breaks to fortune 500 companies and billionaires. Prevent people who love each other from marrying and cut education spending so that we can use the money to kill foreign brown people and take their oil.

In the Obama version, education becomes a priority. The low income end of society gets tax breaks and the rich pay their fair share of the tax burden. Oil companies don’t get incentives to gouge the common man, gay and lesbian couples can be “legitemized” and health care is no longer a privilege it’s a right.

America holds it’s future in it’s hands. It has the ability to make a giant leap forwards and fulfill the promise that is implicit in it’s constitution…Or…it has the ability to stay the same and foreclose on the American dream.

All bullshit aside, which America would YOU rather live in?

What is at stake in this election is not just one single presidency. Not the ego driven dynastic politics that Americans have been used to but the very survival of America as a bastion of the common man.

Don’t fuck it up this time.

In theory I am rather in favor of nudity. There is something brave and beautiful about a naked human body. I am in awe of those of us who can be naked and not think twice about it. I am sadly not one of those people. I say sadly because I wish that being unashamedly naked was something I could do.

I don’t equate naked with sex..well not all the time. I don’t think being naked is in any way dirty. I guess it’s more of a self image problem. I am that thing which I have always denied the existence of: someone who’s body image is defined by the pictures of the perfect people that I see in movies and magazines. I am a man in a somewhat sedentary middle age but I am not fat.. quite the contrary. I am not a giant but I am not a midget by any means and still I feel some kind of shame about how I look. Or, to be more accurate I feel ashamed of how I think other people think I look.

Living in a land of giants I have always got the impression that people think less of me for not being one of them ..”you need to get some meat on your bones” ..”you skinny little runt” …etc etc.  consequently I can’t so much as take my shirt off in public without feeling as if the eyes of the masses are dissecting my physique. Meanwhile every velveeta eating behemoth under the sun sheds their clothes at the slightest prompting and seem unfazed by it. How I envy them.

I sit here writing this in naught but my underwear, but I know that even if one of my dearest friends knocked on the door I would have to put a shirt on or risk a horrid level of uncomfortability.

I know I know you are thinking “lighten the fuck up, nobody cares”.I know this. But thinking and doing are different horses.

Well there we go.. this is not at all interesting..I know because I just read it. Hurrah for blogging eh?!

He tends to lie like a rug while trying to cozy up to the center and the swing voters. His latest scam is to try and pretend that he just LOVES and respects african americans and in fact sees them as role models

In this case it’s the civil rights movement (which he always supported……NOT) and more specifically Rep John Lewis (D-GA) whom he sites as a “mentor” although he really doesn’t know him. Lewis in case you don’t know him was at the sharp end of the the Selma march in 1965 and took a beating on the Edmund Pettus Bridge from Alabama state troopers. What better way to prove that you are “down with the black folks” than to co-opt the acts of selfless bravery of the civil rights movement eh? Leave us not forget however that the Arizona senator voted against making MLK’s birthday a national holiday..Of course in  those days he wasn’t running for president and didn’t HAVE to pretend to like black people.

Why not? the old site was sadly neglected and I am trying to dump one of my hosting accounts which involves moving a lot of stuff, so I thought well I COULD start blogging again …it used to be rather fun…Anyhoo here we are. Our illustrious homophobe mayor (SATIRE ALERT) is as interesting as he ever was and as inneffective as a bag of worms on the moon. He’ll also be up for re-election at some point in the near future so that ought to give me SOMETHING to write about. The podcast is still going strong.
